Any other explanation for Marconi’s trip?
-
was he ever even on the rail? seemed like he was a few paths off for all 3 turns
-
My point exactly. Why lose all that ground when you have the path of your choice?

Horse wasn\'t winning if he sprouted wings. What diff does it make if he lost a couple of lengths off the rail?
And there\'s every chance the rail wasn\'t that hot

Not arguing whether or not he would have won. Just wondering why the jockey kept him so far off the rail. The only reason I can surmise is the better part of the track was out around the 3 path.
Wondering if that had anything to do with Mitole’s race in the Vanderbilt a couple of races earlier.
