Title: Ghostzapper
Post by: jimbo66 on September 09, 2004, 11:12:13 AM
Wondering about early thoughts on Ghostzapper this weekend.  I don\'t know what his T-Graph number was for the Iselin, but I assume it has to be at least very good, considering the 128 Beyer.

I almost always bet against horses coming off huge races on sloppy tracks, especially against short fields like Ghostzapper ran against.  But he looked really good in that race.  The entries aren\'t drawn yet, but I have read that Newfoundland, Midway Road and Saint Liam are going to run.

Thoughts?

I think he benefitted from the combination of the wet track and easy field (either or both) in his last.

I\'m expecting him to revert back to approximately the figures he was running prior. I don\'t have everyone\'s figures in my head, but that surely puts him into the thick of it.

Assuming he\'s not sapped out (and I doubt Frankel would run if he was), I think he would be even scarier going one turn.

Frankel\'s horse rarely bounce to the moon and MIDWAY ROAD is another slop freak who would come up short to GZ on a dry track.

Not sure that the Woodward is a good betting race.

TGJB/TGAB: Any thoughts of having the Man \'o War as the ROTW??

Good Luck,
Joe B.

I looked at the Man O War, and it\'s an interesting betting race. But there aren\'t enough patterns or variables to discuss to make a good ROTW-- I\'m doing the Gazelle.

I believe Ghostzapper #s coming into this weekend’s race are simply out of this world...the only other entrant with a competitive lifetime top that can compete is Midway Road...whose lifetime top (yet to come close to that # since) was achieved over a sloppy track at Keeneland in the Ben Ali stakes...Can they stop Bobby F.’s A train?...Not likely...If everything goes well coming out of the Woodward...Ghostzapper will more than likely enter the Breeders Cup as the early favorite...there is nothing (which includes PP) in Southern Cal than can actually contend in this year’s Classic...the only Southern Cal based horse that I believe could have contend is Southern Image – his heart is as big as they get...tries hard every time....

Colt,

Southern Image is not going to run in the Breeder\'s CUp.  He is hurt and they are pointing him to a campaign next year.

Just await and see what Fig Roses In May will run next week in the KY Cup.  The performance may give cause to reconsider who can contend against GZ next month.  Frankels\' successes on BC days have been barely mediocre, and that\'s being generous. IMO 2 simple reasons Frankel does better thru the year in stakes than he has on BC day-and they are not drug related as so many who need an easy excuse why they didn\'t cash on a Frankel Fav on BC day. First, because his runners have run so well before BC day they don\'t fire their best. And second, he can\'t pick and choose his spots like he can the rest of the year. Can it be this simple?
