Title: Derby Beaten Lengths
Post by: TGJB on December 06, 2004, 02:53:00 PM
Eric-- saw your post on the Ragozin board saying that you guys didn\'t make an error with your Derby figures. I\'ve asked this before to no avail, but since you are sure of your position (and are clearly reading this board), I\'ll ask it again:

What beaten lengths did you use for the gaps between the first 6 horses in this year\'s Derby, what ground loss for each horse, and what figures did you assign?

This is not something that has to be left to the customers to guess about-- one of us is right, and one wrong. Right?

As a former Rags user, and now an exclusive TG customer, I have to say I agree totally with Jerry. The Rags figs left me so many times scratching my head with horses who had no shot according to their sheets, jumping up to win, that it just didn\'t make sense a significant number of times, especially in BIG RACES.  I respect Len, but I\'ve been to seminars with him where he didn\'t come close to a horse the entire card. Now everybody has bad days with analysis, but I think the problem there is with their figs.

Thank you. I\'m on record here many times about the problems with their methods and data (and that\'s independent of results), but I have to say a bigger problem lies with the behavior of their customers. Honestly, if I was using Ragozin data and they were refusing to discuss details of a disputed figure on THE DERBY, I would be doing more than scratching my head. I would be asking hard questions-- and that also goes for all the other times those cult members have instead elected to shoot the messenger.
