Has anyone looked at the raw time of Borrego at the 1 1/8 mark versus Ashado?
When I compare the charts, am I wrong when I see that Ashado hit the 1 1/8 mark at least 1 second faster than Borrego? Yes, I know Borrego was in hand during the final furlong, but I don\'t understand why Ashado got a 102 Beyer and Borrego got a 110?
Please help.

Different configuration could = different variant and different par time.

But, using that analysis, I can see why someone might question Borrego\'s number.
I think you either have to discount Borrego\'s performance, or you have to upgrade Ashado/Happy Ticket.
No way Borrego\'s performane is 8 Beyer Points better than Ashado with those raw fractions.

You are new here, so I\'ll make some allowances. This is not a general board, it is a TG board, and in general the discussion should be about TG figures, or other figures RELATIVE to TG. I posted at length about the Gold Cup figures about a week or two ago several times, and attached the sheets for all the horses in the race with the numbers they ran.
1 1/4 miles at Belmont starts on a turn, 1 1/8th does not. Aside from the turn slowing them down, they are running over real estate that may or may not be the same speed as the main track, and the main track itself does not always stay at the same speed-- see the \"Changing Track speed\" presentation in the archives.
There are always some races where the figures are in doubt, on anyone\'s figures. But the Gold Cup is not one of them, and as it happens Beyer got both races about right.
