can someone help me understand what happened prior to hitting the stretch about 15 lengths behind the pac;?

Perhaps still feeling the effects of the huge fig 2 back & was just picking up the pieces in the stretch. Hard to pass up the fastest horse at 8-1, esp. when Pino opted on, but King might be too clean to beat a Frankel, Pletcher AND Dutrow in one race.
