Title: Woodford Reserve -- Frustrating Weight Issue
Post by: SoCalMan2 on April 30, 2009, 04:28:26 AM
How frustrating is it that Court Vision has to give Einstein 5 pounds????

They raced against each other last race in a Grade I race on Pro Ride with Einstein carrying 121 and winning and Court Vision carrying 119 and finishing 7th.  In the Woodford Reserve, because the \"rules\" treat Pro Ride as being like dirt instead of being like grass, Einstein gets in at 119 and Court Vision has to carry 124.

This seems completely wrong to me in the new environment where Pro Ride should basically be treated as Turf.  Look at Cowboy Cal\'s PPs in the same race. He is basically a turf and Pro Ride horse and the fact that his two G2 wins on Pro Ride get treated the same as if they were on dirt (i.e. not taken into consideration for weight purposes) seems like a complete SHAM to me.

Anybody agree with me?

No.

Its a 3rd surface, but it isn\'t turf.

You are absolutely right.  It is a complete joke.
