Escort is owned and bred by Claiborne Farms, trained by Pletcher. I know Jerry has made a distinction between Pletchers firsters depending on whether or not they are homebreds. Can someone 0r jerry remind me of that distinction? Looks live in the early DD pools and I want to use the Tagg horse as well.

In addition, Pletcher has a non home bred in the same race, #6, who is also live in the early DD pools.

As I heard it at Saratoga, Jerry\'s theory is that when a trainer runs a horse bought at auction it\'s typically because they\'ve seen something they like in its conformation or a speedy breeze. A homebred from a society stable may be a bum but the trainer has no choice but to train it.

Meant to answer that myself and forgot. Yeah, that\'s basically it. A homebred may randomly be good, but on average it\'s not going to be the athletic individual the top stables are able to grab when they get to pick them.

As an uninformed opinion I might add. If the horse looked good with a good pedigree maybe they would have sold him for Big $Bucks$. And then again maybe they tried but didnt get as much as they liked (the Reserve) so they kept him.
Be curious to know what # Washingtons Rules ran in the 5th at Gulfsteam last Saturday. I hear the price is going up!
