1) The Fall Highweight at Aq on Thanksgiving Day -- 11 entered, including a two
horse D Jake entry and Jim Covello et al\'s River Rocks. Four of the 11 are cross
entered in the 4th at Penn the night before, the Fabulous Strike Stake,
River Rocks, Strapping Groom, Tightend Touchdown and Weekend Hideaway. The Fall
Highweight is a $300K Gr III; the Penn race is for $200K and is not graded.
2) What do the Hollywood Derby on Saturday and the Matriarch on Sunday at Del Mar
have in common? Both are $300K GR I races to be run on the turf. Sparkling Review,
coming off four straight easy wins on four different turf courses (the last 2 wins
in graded stakes) is nominated for both of these events. I\'ve not made a single bet
on the Del Mar \"Bing Crosby\" meet as of yet, but might go on a \"der Bingle\" betting
binge if this formful filly appears in the entries, and might finally get a square
mutuel as she competes either against colts or older fillies and mares.

Richie, we are still trying to decide which race to run in, you have any wisdom you would care to share?
hope you are great!
-
Jim best Thanksgiving wishes to you and the family.
Whatever plans you make may be affected by a storm the weather dudes are looking at for Wednesday/Thursday.
I know from experience that its a long round trip to Grantville and back if you dont get all the marbles.
-
thanks Richie, and to you and yours as well
Weather has real potential to mess us up.
I want to run at Penn bc that looks like the better spot for him but looks like they could get whacked pretty good out there with the snow so I worry that the race will get cancelled.
Van for River to get to Penn supposed to leave at 5am on Wednesday morning so it\'s tricky because we have to make a decision on whether to send him before the storm is even supposed to start
it\'s nuts we are talking about a big winter storm in 48 hrs when it\'s 70 degrees outside today.
was it too much to ask that I could drive out to Grantville (only 2 hrs from my house in Jersey) and throw some craps and watch some races with my father in law on turkey day-ever? weather and racing gods conspiring against me here. no good

According to the Weather Channel website only 8-12 inches of heavy snow forecast for Grantville Wednesday. Looks like the van, with a good break, early speed, light traffic and no accidents could get there before the storm.
Alternatively, it looks like a foolish day to be on the highway for man or beast. Maybe Tuesday would be a better travel day if you are intent on shipping.
The show must go on, just worried for the safety of all concerned. I suggest practice putting tire chains on for drivers who are not well versed. Good Luck whatever your choice!

After studying the weather with an intensity which would make TG Board Meteorolgist
Frank D proud, looking at all scenarios, I have reached the conclusion that if
racing isn\'t cancelled at AQ on Thanksgiving, fast and firm is a distinct
possibility...

Richie I\'m always proud of you!!!!
First post since the Saratoga meet, although I\'ve been lurking in the shadows.Aside from 2 really great days at the Spa that saved my gambling year from complete disaster its been back to bad form for the fall.
I\'m in the midst of a total revaluation of how I structure my horizontal tickets as well as finally making the transition to primarily betting from living room downs and succumbing to a rebate program.
I\'ll be assigning Rocky (mathcapper) a home work assignment of weighing rebates vs the tax disadvantage of having picks, tries & supers all lumped together as opposed to the legal placing of the lowest denomination of a bet multiple times to avoid IRS scrutiny. Depending on ones personal tax situation this has been a major point of contention for many exotic bettors and I\'m certainly not holding my breath for a change in the gambling tax codes to a true 600/1 on the actual wagered amount.
5-10 inches in the Albany / Saratoga area tomorrow more to the south.
Happy Thanksgiving to all,
Frank D.

Frank,
Just keep picking horses like you did that day at the Spa this year - my accountant always told me you want to be the biggest taxpayer in America.
Happy Thanksgiving all.
