Ask the Experts / Re: Land Meets Sky, RIP Richiebee

Writing well is very difficult. The good ones make every word count. I am thinking of Red Smith and Joe Palmer specifically. Richie was in that category and every post was a gift.

He will also lose the ability to have stalls at CA tracks if memory serves.

I asked one of the owners that question a while ago. The answer is yes.

Jerry,
Does the East to West coast ship and timing of when it happens affect turf horses the same as dirt horses? Thank you in advance.

Ask the Experts / Getting old
« on: August 10, 2018, 04:53:40 PM »
I was reminded just now of the fact that I have been following and involved with thoroughbreds for a helluva long time. Watching the 9th from Laurel, I heard a horse mentioned named Gorse. The Gorse I remember was a broodmare for Hickory Tree Farm from the mid 80\'s. That race was followed by the Tale of the Cat stakes from the Spa. I first saw him as an unnamed 2 year old in John Forbes\' barn at Belmont. I guess my daughters are correct when they lovingly call their father a broken down old man at 58.

I apologize for stating the obvious, but both War Story and Sharp Azteca have the same trainer who has a history with medications being used illegally.  Was there enhanced testing for the Pegasus?

Make that 1,2,5,7. The ability to mutiny task is greatly overrated.

You have to wonder about the financial side of his operation.  132 yearlings that aren\'t by a highly commercial stallion(s) tend to cost money.  The racing side has to be highly productive to support that IMHO. Odds say it isn\'t.
