Smarty Jones and Ghostzapper
« on: October 29, 2004, 08:42:19 PM »
The more I look at the BC Classic the more it reminds me of the 2004 Derby.

-A horse that lays over the field with his last 2 numbers, that has never gone 10f and that may react to the big efforts.

-A game front runner that could lead early and dig in late.

A solid closer that is the likely post time favorite.

Sounds a lot like Smarty Jones, Lion Heart and The Cliff\'s Edge in the Derby.

or

Ghostzapper, Roses in May and Pleasantly Perfect in the Classic.

Strikingly similar scenario heading into the race.

Will the Classic have a similar outcome? We will find out tomorrow.

Good luck. Looks like a great betting card.

I was wondering about those two horse\'s throughout the week myself and decided finally ( i think ) to play against Ghostzapper becouse of the big jump to those negative figures . Smarty Jones seemed to work or progress down to the big numbers a little better than Ghostzapper - I\'ll still throw him in on top of exacta to protect the win bet however ... tomorrows Breeders Cup card does like pretty good - maybe it\'s give away day at Lone Star Park ...

When I used Smarty Jones in his few prior starts to the the Belmont Stakes it was in an online handicapping contest and I was desparate for a winner having had been on one of those O for streaks .
In retrospect , keeping an eye on my ROI instead of WIN % would have been the more appropriate course of action ...
