In my comments about horses getting faster (archives) I mentioned that the tracks were getting slower. I was talking about the U.S. tracks, but note-- Saratoga County won the Dubai sprint down a straightaway (worth almost a second) in 1:11:21. Track record, set by Big Jag in 2000, is 1:08:10. Don\'t know if there was any wind, but that\'s a 15 point difference in raw time.
