Any performance enhancing substance on the prohibited list, or not, which is administered to a horse with the intended effect of gettin the animal to run faster than he would without it.

The current theory is that it either:
a.) increases oxygenation of the animal to stave off fatigue
or
b.) prevents the build up of muscle tiring \"lactic acid\" to slow down the process of fatigue.

Snaking a tube down the horses nose immediately pre race in some cases;
Probable injections in others

There are some similarities and dissimilarities. They both fell victim to a fast pace in the Derby. They both came to the Derby on two foundational races.
However, Point Given was an honest pace horse, not a need the lead type. When Point Given was headed, he rarely caved. Point Given had a top flight 2YO campaign, Point Given didnt have to face the physical consequences of running a Negative 5 as a young 3YO and Point Given was bred sufficiently more stoutly also.
