There was a day when the races were tied to each other and not to other days. A correlation existed between the 1st race on the card and the 9th race on the card. In that manner a horse\'s effort (Call him Reliable Jeff) could be compared and contrasted with the times run by other horses that day. Regardless of when Reliable Jeff\'s following race was it was a novel event. He was a virgin again, figure wise, as it pertained to the race he was about to run.
Somewhere along the way, figures evolved so that the day to day race time disconnect became a race to race disconnect. The reason for this was that careful observers noticed Reliable Jeff finishing consistently vs. his equine competition but running inconsistently compared to other races that day vs. the clock. Careful observers finally concluded the racetrack itself was not a static inanimate factor, but was rather closer to a living breathing thing. A tempestuous woman if you will capable of very sudden mood changes. In that context, Reliable Jeffs races weren\'t reliable anymore compared to the day\'s card, the reliability mutated to reliability from one day to another. In other words were reliable regarding his next race.
When factoring the number for the current race evolves to considering the number of past races you have an issue arise where repetition is part of the process. In other words, you can\'t factor Reliable Jeff\'s effort for today without considering how Reliable Jeff ran in the Travers or Kentucky Derby or Wood Memorial or even a NW1X at Hallandale. In that manner of deduction, there is a certain amount of Deja Vu. In other words the past is relevant to the future. Or in still other words its impossible to talk about todays race without considering yesterdays performances.
Obviously, when questions arise regarding Reliable Jeffs Deja Vu numbers the antiquated method is one way of scrutinizing for accuracy. In other words, tying the races to each other again.
I\'ve probably confused you.
