A lesson in handicapping?
« on: November 15, 2005, 09:54:46 PM »
Since this is a slow day here I thought I’d make a post that is only half in jest.
While watching “House”, the best program on network TV, It occurred to me that applying Dr. House’s diagnostic reasoning process to horseracing is the best handicapping advice you can get. As an ex med student I can tell you that the only reason doctors aren’t the best handicappers is that the sleep deprivation and general torture of medical training leaves one too mentally drained for the intellectual challenge of picking winners. Fortunately, most of them do retain enough capacity for the relatively easier task of mastering and remembering enough physiology and pathology to save lives. :)

If I was going to make an analogy between my handicapping and a TV show, it would be \"Lost.\"

Bob, I think Gregory House might respond as follows:

\"Way to go, Bob. I take it you were thoroughly self-medicated when you assembled this rubbish?\"

LOL. Sounds like something he would say. Of course, coming from the good doctor, that\'s about as close to high praise as he would get. :)
