Its going to be a very interesting Preakness figure

Barbaro:
23.60, 46.80, 1.10.85, 1.35.84, 1.43.44

Schaefer:
23.31, 47.34, 1.10.80, 1.35.27, 1.47.86

Preakness:
22.83, 45.75, 1.09.80, 1.34.64, 1.53.46

Diabolical is a good horse and he tied a track record in the 8th Race Stakes.

Flashy Bull and Hesanoldsalt (Both with negative number history) ran 3 clicks off Private Terms track record. So the strip was very quick. Another factor was the precipitation before the Preakness, however on raw time the Preakness looks very very fast. It was the fastest Preakness ever run. It wasn\'t close to Farma Way\'s track record, but that race was over slop if my memory serves. Farma Way at 7-1 and Primal up for second I think.

I think this is going to be a tough figure and can\'t project without accurate ground loss. The rail was not good, of that I\'m certain.

ctc2 - guessing about a couple things , street sense ran out of gas is more a factor in the race outcome  than the rider letting the horse relax etc , and guessing the 1st two horses were within a point of their tops . i\'m not intending to infer that my eye is extremely decerning when it comes to watching a race , but i didn\'t have a problem with the ride street sense got . also , i think i may know that angel over your shoulder and his name is \" kazoo\" ...

Agree the track got very fast compare to earlier in the day,despite fastewr horses running later in the card. Preakness splits some of the fastest in the history of the race.

Curlin looks to have topped with SS in staying in his neg 2 range.How empty was CQ again, with a wicked pace up front and still no late punch.

Logical analysis Marcus.

One other factor I meant to mention is that I believe that Bo_Rail and Nafzger believed that Hard Spun was the horse to beat. They were keeping their eye upon that one and when they cleared I\'m certain both Bo_Rail and Nafzger thought the race was over. Curlin had other ideas and Street Sense could not reaccellerate to stave him off. If there is a next time, they will keep a closer eye on Curlin. I will too. I factored him and believed he was one of only 3 that could win, but I rated him 3rd. Its looking more and more like hes gonna be a load. Street sense has not looked as strong once clearing the last horse in front of him. Its possible he does get to gawking. Still, I do like the pedigree of both Curlin and Hard Spun. These are 3 good horses and we can only hope they stay sound so we can enjoy their battles through the year.

I think the Angel is TGraph. I\'ve learned a lot from my exposure to Them and I\'m certain they appreciate that when I comment upon the races I\'m utilizing their fundamentals if not their data directly, which I do consult at this time of year via Red Board. My Derby wager was based upon Tgraphs B.C. Figure for Street Sense as a Juvenile. I bet Sinister Minister last year because their figures convinced me he was the fastest horse. I have a bias when I wager. My theory is I would rather wager and lose on the fastest horse than play the fastest horse to go off form and have that horse beat me. Having the known fastest horse beat me hurts worse than him bouncing. I do consult Tgraph to prevent that from happening and sometimes do toss the fastest horse. A.k.a. Bellamy Road in the Derby and Barbaro in the Preakness, who Tgraph tossed too.

Mike, good observation from my perspective. If Circular Quay was going to close this was the race. The fact that he didn\'t says hes a shorter course horse. At least thats my read.

i agree w/ both the your angel theory and that \'Bo , not once looking to the outside , was not concerned with the eventual winner . nice to see some of you old breeding guys coming around to speed figures - just like some of the young numbers guys come around to breeding ...

i personally hope this group of horses can hang around a while too . overall , the patterns for this crop look better to me than recent generations have .
