Was the big turf fig last fall the fastest given out for a 2yo on turf?

He ran a 3.2 in the Laurel Futurity (& ran back to it in the Bluegrass).  What big turf fig are you talking about? Big Brown was faster breaking his maiden on the turf as a 2yo last year.

The Laurel Futurity fig of 3 1/2, which was a lot faster then Big Browns turf race.

Big Brown\'s TG fig for his 2 yr old turf maiden win is much slower than Rags and Beyer gave him converted. I believe that fig should be revisited. Turf was very firm but 1.40 and change(from memory) is very fast for any horse much less a 2yr old, last 1/16TH in 5 and change is extraordinary. He was rail all the way but still ran a hole in the wind.

You guys couldn\'t find a Big Brown thread?

Everyone (beyer, bris t-graph) had Cowboy Cal\'s race faster then Big Browns, so for the purpose of the initial question, that\'s one race down. Anyone have any others (2yo Turf) that may have been faster then a 3 1/2.

Barabaro\'s best was a 4 1/2, I seem to recall some talk about that being the fastest 2yo turf fig to that point.  Can\'t seem to find anything in a search though.

CTC said BB ran a 2 in his debut-that\'s why I thought his # was faster.

Alan,

I glanced at Big Browns sheet the day after the Florida Derby in the Red Board Room. Seem to recall it went about:

2, 0, now negative 3.2

No problem toppled.   It is a little funny that, my \"ask the experts\" question was answered with second hand info, from someone who doesn\'t buy the product.

Off the top of my head I think that 3 1/2 is about as fast as we\'ve given a 2yo on yurf. A lot of that is because there are very few turf stakes (and little money) for young horses on turf, so trainers tend to try it with good ones only when they think they can\'t handle dirt.

So based on that last comment does this horse belong in the Derby taking a spot away from ones who we know do run on dirt?

Like Visionaire or Denis of Cork........
