Indygo Mountain 10/1 ML. Gets in light and the rail. LeComte a complete toss. Probably needed the race. Should like the added distance.

Full field of 13. What do you think of Big Oak 3/1 ML? BO is 25/1 offshore Derby odds.

Interesting race.I love the big field.Could be some fireworks.The drf quoted
IG\'s trainer \"That last race was disheartening, but I think that\'s just a throw-out race,\" Calhoun said Wednesday on a relatively frigid Fair Grounds backstretch. \"I think he\'ll improve significantly this time.\"

Indygo Mountain is pretty gigantic, tall, long-legged and long-bodied. All the parts have taken time to work in tandem, but Calhoun is seeing progress.

\"His legs used to go everywhere when he ran,\" Calhoun said, \"but now he\'s getting them under him a lot better.\"

Indeed, when Indygo Mountain had a five-furlong work here Jan. 29, only Old Fashioned bettered his time of 1:00.

I love the M/L.

Steve Asmussen made a reference to Dumar maybe having \"heat issues\" and the
colt seems on the come?M/L 20-1.With SXB in the irons no less.I\'m dying to see
all the data from TG for this race.

I like a box of the other Larry Jones horse It Happened Again with Giant Oak who IEAH wanted bad.

Indygo should run better from a good post,but still a race away IMO.Flying Pegasus on talent could be better than all of these,but missed a lot of time with ankle problems,had only a handful of works,and drew outside.I\'m interested in both of those horses in their next assignments.

Of the Asmussen trio:

Soul Warrior looks interesting at a price.Dumar despite the go to jock has to improve a ton.Uno Mas could get back to his race two back which puts him on the fringe.

Don\'t like Friesan Fire off a perfect trip win in last-he\'s yet to improve.

Believe that Giant Oak will be WAY over bet and offer no value as everyone seems to be on his bandwagon.  This race is interesting.  Would still like to give Au Moon a chance as I cashed big on him at CD in Nov and believe that he does possess some talent, but his 13 box is hardly ideal.

Not the worst play imo but an eight point bounce last time raises some questions - and after that  what do you do about Giant Oak\'s mid/ late summer season efforts - Feb foal plus 2 months rest ? . The way I see it  Summers Empire would only need a 3 point move and at this time of season is not impossible - looks like an interesting long-shot  if looking to go against the favorite . . .

Not many in here seem to be developing, or have room for development with a  reason to believe more is on the way.

Exception: Code of Honour.

Was s-l-o-w in his first three races in Nov. and Dec., but an entirely different horse in his last two at Delta Downs. Could be interpreted as a forging line if you look at the last three.

Maybe I\'m reaching with this pick, but if this guy puts it all together tomorrow, I\'ll be rich, I tell ya.

If you get a chance, check out SW maiden win last out @ FG. 3W,3W, lacked room in the stretch,split horses and drew off. Bridgmohan opts off and PVAL picks up the mount.
Also of note, the only horse to beat SW , Free Country,won a 9F allowance race at GP on Jan. 8th in 1:51 flat. 2 races later, Danger to Society won a 9F race @ GP in 1:51 flat.

Good point - a solid enough looking pair of debute efforts that could go forward and probably saves ground . No price today but Giant Oak IMO looks set up to peak now early 3 yo season , bounce next time out then run back to a new top in the Derby . . .  Triple Crown Winner this Year ?

Being from a state with only one Kentucky Derby win ever (Dust Commander, 1970), and only one Derby starter in the last 20 years (Western Playboy, 1989), an ILL-bred (as we so charmingly refer to them here in Chicago) would have to buck some seriously well-established trends in order to win the coveted Triple Crown.
 
I\'m not saying it absolutely can\'t happen. It\'s just not in the realm of things that can be believed to be possible.

And I\'m a die-hard Cubs fan, so I\'m obviously not too selective about believing what is possible.

Sand: The only problem is that PVal is tacking 120 lbs these days,
so SW will carry 4 pounds over his assigned weight of 116.

Thanks, didn\'t realize PVal was overweight. He\'s certainly not riding like he did back in the day. Maybe the sauce was the edge he needed.

Rick - I was just looking at the pattern and giving deference to that earlier 2 yo season form - judging breeding or progeny is definitely not my strong suit . Sorry about the suds ...  Cubs will do it soon !
