Wasn\'t there a Belmont a few years ago with a Triple Crown on the line and an inside horse took a right hand turn late causing a serious bump!!

And NOBODY thought he was going to stay up had he not been been in the late surge.

Why is a bad bump right before the wire not any worse than a bad bump right out of the gate??

Seriously, these stewards just SUCK! I did not have anything on the line in this race, but time after time these guys just are way too inconsistent.

Does anyone know what the requirements are to become a Steward and what are they tested on? To me, what ever the test is they need to revamp it. Do they have to take continued education classes every 2 years?

They should be held accountable for all the decisions they make and every year or two they should be reviewed by a committee which includes at least one handicapper (player) who is not affiliated with an organization.

Beau, Re a review of steward qualifications/performance:

One of many suggestions to smug NYRA years ago.In fairness, they get it right most of the time, imo. Yesterday is a tough sell for me but now we\'re into opinions.Had the middle horse clipped heels and fell the winner would have come  down for the SAME infraction. The finish was too close for the foul to be called \"insuficient\" but the stewards have the last say.
