Questing/Friedman

On the Rag board, Friedman is offering to book 3k to win on Questing next time she runs at more than the toteboard price. If you\'re wondering why, from another  post there it looks like they had her running an 8 in the race prior to the Alabama, with that being a paired top.

So either they have her off a huge top now, or (crazier yet) gave her another slow figure. No idea whether she\'ll win next time out or even who she\'ll run against (Cotillion?), but the premise of the bet is wrong.

Believe Rags had Questing with a pair of like 7 3/4 going in(equals a pair of TG figs of 3 1/4\'s)Like many ground saving horses that wire,the RAG\'s figs will always come up slower than TG/Beyer/Pace Advantage, don\'t know why.

RAGS figs on this one not even close.The bet part comes from the Kool Aid theory about females that run off a few fast ones in a row as told to me by Dave Hardoon some years back.With Questing snaking thru the stretch, guess Len thinks an implosion is coming.

Len make get a few takers depending on where she shows up,figs do not come close to representing how fast Questing has run last 3 races.

I thought they were running about 3 1/2 points plus or minus slower than ours. It\'s up to 4 1/2?

I look about every 6  months at app 100 sets of TG/Beyer/Rags/Pace Advantage. Most recently, the conversions had Rags slowing a point vs TG and Beyer.Could be an aberration which will clear next time.

The consistency of zero has been steady for a few years.A 103 Beyer is to a TG 0 is to a Rag of 3.5

I concur on the conversion difference. Noticed this during the spring derby preps.  Seems like no longer 3, more like, as miff says, closer to 4.

Excuse my ignorance on the subject of figure making, but I didn\'t think Beyer took into account ground loss, while I know TG does.  How can there be a consistent conversion factor when that variable is accounted for by one and not the other?

In an individual case that will indeed make a difference, over a large sample (which you use for an average) it washes out.

Not trying to incite anything, but Hardoon evidently recommended singling Questing, which is unusual for him, especially as one of the chalks. I\'m not an expert sheet reader, despite trying for years, but it strikes that betting that horse off a pair of tops or off of the faster line TG had had comparable odds of success. Redboarding, of course....

I don\'t think I offered an opinion of how she looked in the Alabama off their stuff (and I didn\'t see the whole race on it), but since you mention it, there was a lot of talk on the Rag board about the race and Questing. Interestingly enough, the guy who took the positive position on her said he thought they had the last one about 3 slow.
