Calling Fairgrounds Experts

Arch Angel ran in the 9th race @FG today, a 6F  Alw nw1. Trainer Grant Forster. The track is sloppy. The sheet looks like -21, -16, *11. Evenly spaced @ about 5 weeks between races. Started his campaign in early august @ WO. Keeps jumping up 5 pts but I foolishly thought he was placed too ambitiously placed for his first dirt/mud effort.

The #12 had just run a 0 and I settled on the #6 as my key. He\'d just run a 4 and was lightly raced. I bet the #6 to win @ 6/1 and a 30/1 exacta under the fast #12 who was 7/2?.

I can\'t know but it looked like the #12 paired his 0 and ran away from the field. The six ran solidly and a figure close to his last would seem reasonable. But Arch Angel chased the 0 horse finishing 2+1/2 lengths back and 2+1/2 lengths ahead of my 4 pt horse.

Now it is La. and Arch Angel was only 15/1 when the horse strictly off the numbers s/b 50/1 even in a nine horse field. The #2 was 57/1 and all one could expect from that one would have been an 11.

So we just shine it on and go on. I know some of the big outfits are patient. Maybe they don\'t use the sheets @ FG because the 2/1 favorite was coming off a pair of 9\'s.

What a game... any insight to help me put my mind back together.

I\'m not a Fairgrounds expert, just playing devils advocate. The 12 horse is trained by Calhoun who has magical powers if you know what I mean.  The 1, Arch Angel showed good off track breeding, second best in the field.  The horse that had paired up 9\'s ( The Sandman) had the best off track breeding in the field which may be why he was bet.  I\'ve hit some nice payoffs on horses in good form or improving that have better off track breeding than the competition.  Hope this helps, good luck!!!
