If my memory serves me right, the Superfecta on the Kentucky Derby is a minimum $1 bet .  Must be mandated by Churchill Downs.  It is quite expensive to give this one a shot without having others to chip in with the betting, at the $1 minimum.

There was minimal difference since Churchill eliminated the .10 super play and made the super a $ 1.00 minimum about 4-5 years ago.  
Quickly since 2010 the tri wagers were 25.4M, in 2011 25M, 2012 28.7M, 2013 27M, and 2014 27.5M.
That\'s about all I\'m gonna do on this string.

Reaserch the history of the Superfecta pay out..I think some may surprise you especially the year Supersaver won.

I like your strategy for the bet. I do a very similar bet every year.
I have a 1K bank roll for the Derby itself,this is in know way a typical bet for me  I do this only for the Derby because I know there is a better than 50% chance of a nice payout.
I do a Ex,Tri and a Super bet with the Super taking up approx 40% of that 1K.
I go heavy on the Tri\'s as well and my smallest investment is the Ex.
I am greedy come Derby Day and looking for the score.
