Came Home vs Md'O
« on: May 08, 2002, 08:10:44 PM »
Some other guys think Came Home ran a better Derby than Medaglia d\'Oro. I thought Md\'O had a worse trip and was running twice as fast at the end......... JB, what am I missing here ???

Medaglia D\'Oro   3W - 3W :  2 and a half
Came Home 5W -  4W : 2 and a quarter !

Encouraging to see that Came Home moved forward as I thought he would. Takes some of the sting out of getting beat.

They should run him in the Preakness. If they do, I its a cold box between War Emblem and Came Home.

Mark, I will have to give you credit here for your selection of came home.  If you would have told me ahead of time that he would run a 2+ at 1 1/4 I would have thought you were nuts.  He obviously has tremendous heart, but I am concerned about them running him in these longer races.  His heart may try to get him to do things his body can\'t sustain and I think it will lead to injuries.  Keep this horse at 8 or 8.5 furlongs.

Sounds like they\'re going to the Swaps at 9f.
In his favor is that he\'s only 3 as opposed to 5 so he can develope.

even more than ready ran great in the derby (4th) yet was a sprinter - in class races sometimes you ran out of your skin because of company (I can\'t explain this - but I\'ve seen it). I would bet against came home at 9f in top class company, no doubt in my mind.  he will be 4th or 5th in the breeders cup sprint.

I just hoope the horse makes it to the BC sprint.
Mcccarron rode the horse quite hard for four furlongs in the SA Derby, and made him run for a solid six furlongs in the Derby. How much more can this horse take?? Paco knows how to train them, but I say give this courageous horse with a huge heart a damn break!!!

Lucas now talking about both Table Limit and Shah Jehan for the Preakness? It\'s amazing how a wire to wire win in a triple crown race can get people fired up. Everybody except Baffert and the Thoro Corp thinks they got screwed. I have two words for Victor Espinoza in the Preakness.......GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
