Status of Graded Stakes Security?
« on: August 18, 2005, 12:41:13 PM »
I\'m curious about how Top Commander could have been milkshaked for the Bing Crosby.  I thought, probably incorrectly, that graded stakes were now required to be run out of detention barns, and that milkshaking is a raceday practice that would be prevented by a detention barn.  Does anyone know where I have gone astray?

AHAH !!!

Yes, I do know where you went astray (and I learned about it a couple of months ago from one of the other posters on this board, and passed it on to the powers that be). You are assuming that the only way to raise bicarbonate levels is by tubing a horse (milkshaking). I\'m not going to go into detail because I don\'t want to give anybody ideas, but that\'s not true, and I have made sure that several jurisdictions know about it-- they\'re working on it.
