I looked at Inner Light with the same suspicion. But the more I looked at him the more I\'ve come to believe he is entered with bona fide intent. I reached that tenative belief with a race by race analysis, which I\'ll repeat here. Starting always from the first race and working to most recent. Songandaprayer is a young sire and was exceptionally fleet. Assuming Mott was consulted in regard to the purchase he did go for 650k. Not chicken feed by any means:
Aug15- Sent out for training race
Sept28- Meets Anak Nakal and Da\'Tara, tires in lane for closely beaten 4th
Oct13- Back on Relatively short rest for big Fla Bred two turn pot. Mott has faith, but he tires badly after a half.
Dec13- A nice little break and BANG wins for fun to break maiden
Dec29- Note its Tampa and he does not get out of the gate (That place is fraught with peril for ship ins) He runs a nice race nevertheless.
Feb9- Sealed Slop at Hallandale. I didn\'t see the race, but who wants to bet that Saratoga Russell didn\'t go wire to wire?
Mar7- Granted the fractions are fast, and that he did not come home fast, but he did lay off the leaders and come home best.
I think this horse is bona fide and likely to shadow War Pass.
My instructions would be break sharp, secure a good position just off War Pass and try to take him down the lane.
