Agreed rosewood, another time in another forum.
Horses invite plenty of dispute, let alone politics.

Yes this is not the place for anything other than horse racing talk and I am
possibly one of the worst offenders.

I will offer a brief explanation for my Friday morning distress and invite
anyone who wishes to comment to do so on the P to P function.

1) As recently as 10 years ago I had a regular gang of friends who I saw 3 or 4
times a week. When we were not trying to beat the races, we had the kind of bond
which allowed us to talk about anything, especially at Belmont where there was
25 or so minutes between races. It has been neither necessary nor convenient to
attend the races live 3 times a week in the past few years, so I kind of
adopted the TG Board as surrogate racetrack buddies.

2) Friday was one of the few days I could bet on the races, and even before the
rain the card at Belmont was yet again disappointing.

3) Opening day at Monmouth-- more disappointing racing at a track where I hung
my hat during the 80s

4) I have no real betting interest in the Preakness. I am rooting for Big Brown
to win, emerge sound and come to NY. I hope the media and NYRA will promote the
event competently and can overcome some of the adverse post Derby publicity. I
will sit out the Preakness for the first time in many years.

POLITICAL STUFF MY LAST POLITICAL WORDS EVER ON THIS BOARD

A) All I ask of my elected officials is that they at least are as moral and
ethical as I am --not a hard standard to attain and maintain. My representative
in Congress has been living below this meager standard. I am angry.

B) Hillary-- actually I was more angry of her depiction of Wall Street greed
than the other comments. Look, slim, last time I checked, Wall Street was in
NYC. NYC was in New York State. You are a Senator from New York State. If there
are problems on Wall Street who carries part of the blame? Angry.

C) Myanmar. I lived in New Orleans for 2 years, the only considerable time I
spent in what I consider a foreign country. Forgetting about the response to
these tragedies and the aftermath, I have read a lot which leads me to believe
that a lot of the New Orleans damage could have been PREVENTED. Angry.

D) Right now I am supporting the newly hip and suddenly renovated former
Senator from Tennessee as my Democratic candidate. A closer swooping in to go
by 2 dueling, burnt out speed horses.

See, I brought it back to Racing.

buddies. You guys have a lot of patience and you never ask to borrow money

Richiebee, I enjoyed your latest post, however, I am disappointed in the fact that you managed to misspell disappointing twice.  Disappointing,indeed.
Expecting any elected official to display any level of ethics or morality is asking a bit much.
With $ 100M in income the last few years, and her earlier commodities scam, Hillary should be the last person talking about greed.

The one thing I think certainly needs to change is independents and republicans/democrats crossing over and voting in another party\'s primary.

McCain was on his death bed but won a few early primaries. That gave him all the momentum and got the money flowing again. But he was winning with independents and democrats that were crossing over in large numbers. He was  losing some of those early states among republicans and was wildy unpopular with conservatives. Now the republicans have a candidate that is pretty unpopular within much of the party even if he\'s reasonably viable in a general election and even if they will wind up supporting him anyway.  

Right now Rush Limbaugh is running a campaign (operation chaos) for republicans to vote in democrat primaries (or re-register as democrats if they have to) for Hillary Clinton in an effort to extend the democrat race. There\'s at least some evidence he had an impact in Indiana with cross over republicans there.

IMO there\'s something wrong with people crossing over or re-registering just prior to a primary in order to infuence who the potential candidate is. You should only be able to vote inside your own party, there should be no last minute changes, and independents should pay a price for not pledging some loyalty by not being able to select the nominee.

I used poor taste and should not have made that post.

I have sent a personal message to Richibee informing him that I was trying to respond to tmon\'s reply (5/11/@/1124) TO A POST RICHI MADE ( 5/10/@1140), without making a personal attack on the man.

I should have let Richi respond if he was offended.

i wrote in john b anderson the last time i voted . most folks would disagree and perhaps understandably so , but imo -  the country\'s economy and social structure at present remind me of the .com bubble bursting a few years back - except now on an extreme macro scale  . if i could figure out which candidate would be good in  important critical area\'s of concern and good for racing as well ...

I wanted Al Gore to run as bad as anyone.

Early in the affair, Gore stated that Hillary was unstoppable and that her strong hand and his late start prevented him from running. (This statement was pre Iowa and the passing events have to call into question his judgement)

I think Gore was hurt so badly by the shenanigans in 2000 that he bowed a tendon and broke a couple sesamoids. I for one don\'t expect to see him on the track again.
