Handicapping Contest
« on: May 23, 2008, 02:27:41 PM »
I have never particapated in one, but know a few have and have done very well.  I plan on trying my first one next month at Hollywood park and was wondering if anyone can offer any advice on playing them, bankroll management, etc.

It is a $7500 cash buy in.  You keep what you win. Win, Place, Show, Exacta, Trifecta, and Quinella wagering only.  Minimum wager is $400 a race (only Hollywood Park card).

$50,000 first place, $10,000 second place, $5,000 third place.
10 spots for the 2009 DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Championship.

I appreciate any advice
Thanks

Ronwar,

Sugest you contact Jerry, since he won that contest recently.

As of Sunday, only 19 had signed up with the top 10 spots going to Vegas, not bad odds.

Ron,

It confirms what I have said all along regarding these so called \"contests\".You expect clueless blind stabbers to put up $7,500.00 to qualify. They can stab either on line with almost no monetary risk or for a small entrance fee at the various venues.

Good luck!! That contest is like a wild west shoot out but at least people are backing their opinions with meaningful monetary risks, unlike the odds board stabbing that constantly goes on at these events.

Hopefully, someday there will be a real contest format put in that attracts thousands of players in with millions in prizes at the final, like the World Series of Poker.
