I am forwarding this e-mail in the hope that any whale out there may have it in their heart to do some good this season for these horses. This is not a joke or scam-this is happening right now, and Peaceful Acres is a well known and respected Horse rescue facility. It tore me up to think that these animals were being bred for racing....
Re: 30 horses in Saratoga County in Desperate need!
Dear Friends of Peaceful Acres; Please Help Us to Help the Horses!
Once again it is nearly January and I have been told of a rescue – not much different than the situation with Angel – Hope and Spirit last January. Someone fell on hard times and can’t feed his horses!
I have been told that I am an advocate – good at getting a message across and getting the needs of others met. Sometimes I feel I do this by “begging” and I think most days I feel like I just can’t beg any more…
But then a case like this happens to come across the phone and email lines to me and I am placed in a position of advocacy again!
The Facts on Horse Starvation:
1) Right now horses are starving and freezing to death!
2) There is NO local funding stream to assist these horses
3) There are numerous people and sanctuaries that are willing to help – but we have no financial resources!
4) Most of the horses are in a condition that if rescued now – before emaciation starts to destroy their bodies - they can be reconditioned
5) These horses have feelings and will – they are living creatures with heart and soul ( I testify to that as our friends at PA become co-therapists rescuing people)
6) I know of 70 horses right now – starving, becoming emaciated, with no water, hay, shelter or care!
7) The horses will die!
What can we do? What can you do?
I am working with Joyce and another sanctuary to help place 30 horses from a Saratoga Breeding farm (yes, breeding). The Thoroughbreds are beautiful – very thin at a poor body condition of 2-3.
The horses need care – they need what we provided last year to Hope, Angel and Spirit. Love, Care, Respect and Feed
If you or anyone you know wants to adopt one of these horses, there is no adoption fee! You can place them at Peaceful Acres as an adoptive/rescued horse and pay $325.00 per month to keep them at PA. You would be a sponsor to the horses – you can work to retrain it and you can become its foster parent.
· If you have a barn – please consider taking one or two of these horses
· Reach out to your friends - send this email out to everyone on your mailing list – who you know may make a difference!
· Transportation can be provided by Peaceful Acres – no trailering fees!
If we bring in a few more horses to PA it will need to be well thought out and financially supported, as times are so lean for us right now…. But desperation calls – I can’t sit back and watch horses die of starvation, dehydration and essentially… Freeze To Death!
Please pool your resources… please consider sponsoring a Thoroughbred for rescue! If we can only help a couple, it is better then none!
Joyce, Kathy Stevens and I are available to discuss this and are working together to try to save theses horses - please email or call the office if you can assist in any way.
Let’s make this a Happy New Year for the Horses in Saratoga!
I will not stop advocating for others until the day comes that I leave this earth!
Peace and Blessings to all,
