Whew! I\'m being sensitive?
Good thing it\'s Friday -- seems like you could use a cocktail yourself. Maybe some deep breathing, too.
You read *way* too much into my post, stuff that simply wasn\'t there. I never said ego wasn\'t involved in these contests; I tried to infer that *too much ego* -- thinking that you are better and smarter than the rest -- is a bad thing to bring to a contest. In my opinion, a healthy amount of ego tops out right around \"I can do this...I think I\'m as good as these guys...why can\'t I win?\"
I could name names of specific regular tourney players who I know for a fact think they are better handicappers than everybody else -- because they have said so, right to my face. That\'s pretty arrogant, and probably flat out wrong. I wouldn\'t dare say or even think that I\'m a better handicapper than you, or anybody else. This game has humbled me a million times over, and I try to give it -- and all those who dare play -- their due respect.
Obviously, I didn\'t make myself clear enough on this for you. My bad.
As far as the rest, Mall did a far superior job to mine in explaining some of the reasons I mentioned, and he added others that are also worth examining. If you refute all that he wrote, too, that\'s fine. Your opinion is just as good as anyone else\'s here. But when you post a one word opinion on a topic, with no other context, you shouldn\'t be surprised that others might not give it much weight, or possibly interpret it differently from how you meant it.
