Preakness pace

assuming a very slow pace in the prkns-say :48 for the half, and 1:12 for 6f. who does that benefit the most and why? will that kind of pace allow HI(or other front speed) to hold on-even if HI may have some distance limitations? most of these are stalkers or closers. if there is a pack of 10 horses at the top of the stretch, who wins? does it become a jockeys race? any thoughts? thx.

Hurricane Ike\'s been chasing Eightyfiveinafifty the last two in elongated sprints.While he\'s never attempted to wire a field he\'s the likeliest pacesetter stretching out and I doubt they want to strangle him down to 48 and 112.

Borel\'s been on HI in his last couple.If he thinks HI can stretch out he won\'t be too far away with SS.Desormeaux on PO\'P will try to stay in contact with SS again.Pace might not be hot but should at least be honest.I\'m guessing closer to 47 and 111 than to 48 and 112.

Really have no idea what to do with Paddy O on a fast dirt track.I think a lot of bettors are gonna completely toss him assuming he\'s a poly/grass/slop horse.

Jackson Bend and First Dude are one paced pressers who could be sittin in behind HI,SS and maybe PO\'P.

Gotta see the post positions also.

If the pace is slow, SS will be closer than he was in the derby. Hurricane Ike is the new face many are looking at and may be the controlling speed.Looks to be a few close range stalkers in there too.

TAP very savvy trip guy and will not allow the Preakness to be stolen from SS on the front end,assuming he has horse.

Just read a 2009 article that the preakness pacesetter finished off the board 12 years straight, forgot what happened last year, only 2 times hit the super. FWIW

Such stats can be very misleading.If a slug was on the lead,the result is obvious.

I agree Mike, I am not big on the \"it happened last year, try to equate it to this year type of thing\"
