For me this years absolute short priced bet against will be the Tricky Dutrow 2YO
Boys at Costconova. I have felt this way ever since Tricky announced that \"Boys\"
would train up to the BC Juvie after his score in the Hopeful at Saratoga. This
colt will go into the 1-1/16th Juvie with three races on his resume, at distances
of 5f, 5-1/2f and 7f. Would love to know the thinking behind NOT prepping this
one in the Champagne. A toss for me. With just as much conviction as I tossed
Midnight Lute in the 07 BC Sprint at Mth, and we all know how that worked out.

While I am in Tricky town, I will also be tossing Court Vision off of his big
Woodbine win.

During Big Brown\'s Triple Crown campaign, Dutrow announced that (a) he treated
his runners with steroids, (b) he didn\'t know what steroids did for his runners
and (c) he would no longer treat his runners with steroids. Would be interesting
to review the performance of Dutrow stakes runners pre and post steroids.

In the BC Juvie Fillies Turf, whats not to like about Winter Memories,a daughter
of the ultra classy Memories of Silver. Has she been super impressive in her 2
lifetime starts? Was World War II noisy? Hopefully some Euro talent shows up and
WM\'s price wont get prohibitively low.

In the BC Turf, still on the Champ Pegasus bandwagon even though he hasn\'t been
beating much on the left Coast. This one is in good hands and would love some
pace up front. Should be decent odds stepping up in class.

Big defection!!

The Breeders\' Cup Sprint lost yet another top contender when trainer Todd Pletcher revealed Discreetly Mine will miss the race because of an injury to his left stifle. Division leader Majesticperfection was the first major defection from the race when retired because of injury late this summer.

Pletcher said it took several days to diagnose the exact nature of Discreetly Mine\'s problem but received the bad news from Dr. Larry Bramlage on Wednesday.

\"It\'s nothing too serious, but he\'ll have to be given 60 days off, which naturally eliminates the Sprint from consideration,\" Pletcher said. \"If all goes well we hope to have him back in training again this winter at Palm Meadows. This is terribly disappointing to us because obviously this horse found his niche sprinting during the second half of the season.\"

Discreetly Mine won his last three starts at distances ranging from six to seven furlongs including the Grade 1 King\'s Bishop and Grade 2 Amsterdam this summer at Saratoga.

I am right there with you on tossing Boys of Toscanova.  This is DaFunnybone part 2.  The horse is a great young sprinter and, if handled properly will be a great 3 yr old sprinter but he\'s by Officer and even if he did had more foundation and wasn\'t trying 2 turns off of a long layoff with little foundation, you won\'t catch me playing any offspring of Officer first time 2 turns at a short price.  He\'s a good sized horse with a big long stride so he may convince some people he will get 2 turns but he will need to beat me (I believe I said the exact same thing about War Pass in the Juv at MP btw so buyer beware here).

Winter Memories looked amazing and I am sure her firgure will be big given the 7w move and the fast time but let\'s wait to see what youngsters the Euros have before we hand her the crown.

And, speaking of Euros, you can\'t be serious about playing anyone other than one of the Euros in the BC Turf, right?  That was one of your funny ha ha jokes, yes?

My first reaction when looking at the link is not the odds of those two horses, but more \"what happened to the sprint division\".  Boy oh boy, Girolamo as the favorite, followed by Here Comes Ben?

Mott\'s To Honor and Serve 4W 8 length off the turf MSW win last Friday at Belmont was the top 2YO performance I have seen this year visually. Cannot wait to see the number. Don\'t know if they will rush him to the Juvenile, but if Mott spots him there, I assume that he will be ready.

Another Bernadini I believe. He took money and got Johnny V. first out at Spa when Pletcher had runners entered.
A friend of mine who plays poker in Lexington with some Farm Hands was told the Bernadinis were looking good as babies....Stay Thirsty is a scratch from the Champagne. Not sure where Pletcher goes from here with him.

Jimbo the Sprint last year was weak! This is also weak but at least may get a big field. Gotta believe Ben will be a Wise Guy horse considering he is local, won the Forego and will have run once since July.

Riley Tucker won the Aristides at Cd and ran decent in Vosburgh. Could be a price play closer if he gets a setup!

Here Comes Ben is much (90% per trainer) more likely for the Dirt Mile (it\'s one turn at CD).  And yes, this year\'s Sprint does not exactly bring to mind the world beaters of the past does it?  (see 2007 - Benny, Lute, Commentator, plus an old Bordenaro, Talent Search, Idiot Proof...he who can\'t run -4 need not show up!)

I was equally impressed.  He ran an 8 first time out going 3/4\'s and was extremely impressive.  Very professional, rated kindly and then just exploded.

Take a close look at Jeff Bonde\'s Ancient Title winner, Smiling Tiger. Has that \'3yo in the SPR\' look about him and the synth2dirt move upon which to rely. It\'s odd how this never-off-board/dual G1 winner has gone pretty much without notice. Has been brilliantly handled by Bonde, will arrive two weeks ahead of start, and should be poised for Churchill.

El Brujo from Baffy(one big TG synth fig at 7f),unseen since dusting Smiling Tiger,is the ultimate dark horse right now in the sprint.Any move up, synth/dirt and he\'ll win by a pole.
