I got to read the script for the pilot. People said the script I wrote was too dark, and made racing look too bad-- this goes WAY beyond, with a horse being put down on-camera.
Had some dealings with Milch, years ago, and he saw an early version of what I wrote. He\'s unbelievable with dialogue, though he\'s got racetrackers talking suspiciously like the cops on NYPD Blue. He definitely knows the track-- he\'s an owner and huge bettor.
