Caradoc,

Two more very famous Spanish speaking jockeys and another white jockey were involved. It was my understanding that they bankrolled Vasquez\'s legal expenses and he kept quiet.

F-ing bandits!

Mike,

I haven\'t followed NY racing daily in about 20 years -- whatever happened to Jose Amy?  Wasn\'t he trying to be reinstated?

Jacinto took the fall and the year off; spent it on Frank Whiteley\'s farm in South Carolina breaking yearlings and excercising horses there.

An all legal expenses paid vacation along with a weekly paycheck via the Spanish speaking brother-in-laws.

Back in the days of a double, exacta\'s in the 3rd, 5th & 7th and a triple in the last race. I remember my Grand Father screaming at me for betting an exacta.
\" your so smart you can pick 2 horses; one isn\'t hard enough, you F\'in idiot\"

OMG how the times have changed!

Although Pittsburgh Phil and later Art Rooney SR.who loathed parimutual wagering I\'m sure both would today apprecaite the value of of 1 take out spread over 3 or 4 races?

Good luck,

Frank D.

Others have already covered it, but 10 Palms on the 2nd floor is probably your best option. Buffet ($40) is quite good and it shouldn\'t be too crowded tomorrow. You can also get $2 seats outside if you don\'t mind sitting past the finish line a bit.

Weather should be spectacular tomorrow, it certainly is today. Enjoy!

I, for some reason, still have the SI story you\'re referring to.  Dated 11/6/78.  A race-fixer named Tony Ciulla claimed to have bribed several top jockeys in the Northeast to hold horses in the trifecta races.  He named Cordero, Velasquez, Baeza, Vasquez, among others.  At the time of the article, the case was under investigation by authorities, so I don\'t know the outcome.
