I\'ve mentioned countless times Mike Smith is a money rider and takes far too much crap from people.

Smith rides a thousand times a year and there\'s no difference between now and 10 years ago, at least none you have pointed out. The point made here-- in advance-- is that Willard, who has been an average trainer historically, is getting jumpups NOW. The two situations are not remorely analogous.

Whenever I see someone of a certain age all of a sudden jumping up like this, the
first thing which comes to my mind is that they are contemplating leaving the
game, or that they have possibly have been given a short time to live based on a
medical condition, and that they are going out with a bang.

That was the first thing that came to my morbid mind when Ramsey\'s horses began
to run out of their skin, that Mr. R had gotten an unfavorable medical diagnosis
and decided to pull all the stops out. Of course, in the interim we have learned
that it is just hay, oats and water (plus shock wave treatment and the hyperbaric
chamber).

To have some more fun with this, I believe that J. Willard Thompson\'s wife was a
world class equestrienne. Long ago it was explained to me where the \"hop\" or
\"juice\" came from -- it trickled down to thoroughbred trainers after being
developed by the show horse people.

Hey I can redboard a conspiracy theory with the best of them...

Any truth to the rumor that after David Jacobson\'s record setting Belmont meet
that no less than 30 trainers have applied for 24 hour surveillance?

its not about his modest 12 per. winning, its the way they win. hes been training for many years so I think hes tried all the different methods. so if it walks like a duck......

Not to quibble over numbers, but I probably wouldn\'t have
noticed if Thompson was winning at only 12%; it\'s more
like 23% this year, 12 wins from 52 starts...from a guy
who won 10 races from 300+ starters the last 2 years.

Believe it or not, I don\'t care about the \"why\"; the guy
is winning, at great prices, and I\'m along for the ride.

Thompson has 3 entered on Friday\'s Monmouth card, and I
will simply continue to level bet his horses; there is no
point in adding in my handicapping bias, as my experience
with \"suddenly hot\" trainers is that whatever you think you
are looking for in the pp\'s, it simply isn\'t there.

So don\'t mess it up. Just bet.
