Since Hayden and Altman were both mentioned, Altman\'s version of The Long Goodbye is great. Watch out for a guy who became a governor, and a Yankee pitcher who wrote a book.

I love these TG strings that go off on their own merry way. Really? Guessing you mean (that other) Jerry Brown and Jim Bouton. Will have to see that one again.

And, while we are at it ... my brother is a sound mixer who has worked on many features, including several of Altman\'s. He told me while working on Short Cuts (very good!) that Altman cashed the Sea Hero Derby big time.

Future Guv is Ahnold, who plays the muscle for a gangster. Non speaking part.

Re Pope Of GV, that Summer Wind scene was shot in Houston st park, where I played a lot of basketball with the Italians. Four man halfcourt, very tough defense, they picked up their man 30 feet from the basket, lots of picks off the ball, lots of passing. If you weren\'t careful, when you landed it wouldn\'t be on your feet.

Which is how I got my last knee injury, right in that park. That was it for me.

One of the best things about The Killing is you get to hear the voice of the great SoCal caller Joe Hernandez (and see old Bay Meadows). \"Something has gone wrong with Red Lightning...\"

If one wishes to marry \"art\" forms here, it might be worth looking at a Hawthorne Pick-3, starting in the 4th with Tattaglia/All/Sweet Luca, which actually has some merit beyond a mere hunch play.
