Parx purses

All purses to double sometime near Labor Day.Will be watching the effect this has on NY racing,---if true,there should be plenty of trainers sending horses over there.Can anyone confirm this?

It will be similar to the time Monmouth jacked up their purses a couple of summers ago.  Since I didn\'t keep track, I\'ll throw out the question to the people who might know:
What effect did that have on NY?

Can\'t really quantify it but many NY trainers/owners look for a soft spot with a big purse at Parx. Ship is not onerous.The only thing is that as more and more ship to PARX, the soft spot isn\'t as soft anymore.Slot fueled venues sweetening pots to attract top outfits more and more.Very good time to have stakes level types as an owner,more options shorter fields.

Horse shortage almost peaked now, 6-7 horse fields with big purses at the top level even affected very often.

It\'s definitely happening as well as an end to Parx\'s year-round racing as part of the deal. Unlike when Monmouth did this but went overboard with the purse levels and had no hope of sustaining them, Parx has tons of slots money and is cutting 45 days of racing from the schedule. As long as slots revenue distribution doesn\'t change in PA, this could become a yearly thing. Guess we\'ll see if it hurts NY and Monmouth a lot or just a little---definitely not a ton of horses to go around anywhere these days.

The only thing which can really hurt NYRA is more tinkering by Toy Boy,
although he has basically left Racing to Panza. Panza has put on some nice
cards, but he has to step up upstate and present racing which is clearly
superior to that held at Belmont. I haven\'t seen a condition book yet, so I
can continue to dream.

Will Parx be running races for NYBs?

If Parx throws some of the purse money at ungraded stakes, they will continue
to be ungraded stakes.

Even with 45 less racing days, Parx\' single turf course would not seem able to
handle the volume which the 3 downstate NYRA courses do.

I have a warm spot for Parx from back when it was Keystone/Philly Park, but
the only real threat to NYRA is the Kay Bomb.
