Scratches

All these scratches the past week with these excuses that would never interfere with breeding value are so hilarious.  

If someone had a list of all the scratches/defections in the weeks leading up to BC the past decade, it would be beyond instructive.  

Didn\'t gallop like a gazelle

Spiked a temp and we shoot for a race a week later

Off in his work today.  Just didn\'t seem quite right.

EDIT:  And let\'s not forget these are the very best horses in the world LOL.

I remember in 2014 a horse who was going to be a heavy favorite scratched out of the BC Juvenile.  After Texas Red jogged in that race I thought the scratched horse was something really special.  When he went back in training I got him at 8/1 in the February Derby futures. Only Derby future bet I ever cashed.

Today\'s scratch is tomorrow\'s opportunity.

PS : It didn\'t hurt A.P.\'s stud fee when he retired after winning the Triple Crown & Breeder\'s Cup Classic.
