Saving the Best For...Third to Last
« on: October 04, 2023, 04:50:33 PM »
Checking a DRF article on the BC Classic, a full field of 14 expected.

Article says that due to NBC\'s college football obligations (I smell Notre Dame)
the BC Classic will NOT be final BC race of the day. The Turf Sprint and Sprint
will FOLLOW the Classic.

The Turf Sprint and Sprint will apparently be shown on FanDuel TV f/k/a TVG but
not on NBC.

I\'m gonna guess Miff.

I came to post about that exact feeling. I saw a filly the other day, and became a bit miffed.

Tonight the TCM channel is showing Ben Hur, which came out when I was a pup. I found it interesting to find one of the four white horses who (I assume) would become Ben\'s team in the finale was named Aldebaran. Didn\'t know the back story.

I decided to end my viewing - it goes for another two hours - just as a merchant hawked \"silk from Damascus\". Which brings it full circle.

The reason for my irritation was seeing they have released the name Regal Rumor to a 2021 foaled filly. I have always regarded the 1972 mare (by Damascus) as one of a kind. Jack Van Berg brought her to Chicago racetracks Arlington and Sportsmans Park.

Some horses are too dear to share their name (I hope).
