I will have to let Gayego beat me. He adds blinkers which will likely have him force the pace from the outside. I know that there have been a number of Derby flops who have come back to run well in the Preakness. As a general rule, however, they were more highly regarded than Gayego was going into the Derby. Let\'s face it, a reveral of form of the magnitude needed to get Gayego into contention is the exception rather than the rule. Besides, he\'ll be stepping on his sire line pedigree before he reaches the far turn.
Kentucky Bear is more of problem, however. He should be well-positioned as a mid-pack closer. He has considerable upside as a lightly raced horse who has been working very well. Nevertheless, Kentucky Bear should be over bet considering that neither he nor his connections have proven themselves at this level.
