I\'m glad I\'m not the only one searching for answers from the Regret.

There were at least 5 horses in the field that were 10 lengths better than the winner....that knocked me out of every multi-race wager including the P6. The 49-1 3rd place runner which I used was at least in the ball park of competitive figures with a 6. Caminadora\'s best figure was an 11 and she had run that number twice at 2 and twice at 3 with no trainer changes.

I\'d like someone to RedBoard this race and explain why you would even consider that horse in a race that had this much depth. All I thought after the race was, \"I wonder what he was on?\"

I had Jody Slew at a decent price keyed over and under all, and had another ticket with her keyed with Beautician and It\'s Tea Time with ALL.  

Might have been one of the worst rides I\'ve ever seen by a jock, not that I blame him entirely for the loss as it was a bit of reach.  But man.  The guy goes 4w or so on 1st turn in a grass race when the rail was WIDE open and he was already there and could have tucked in just behind the leaders.  Then he ranges up 4w or more on the 2nd turn and the horse still has enough left to be sitting about a length off of the leaders at the top of the stretch, and then when it\'s time to ease out for clear sailing the jock instead drops a bit inside and lets himself get boxed in between runners, the horse is still moving but is running out of gas when she has to check hard in mid stetch.

I don\'t mind losing, but that horse lost at least 8-9 lengths in ground loss before she had to check in what turned out to be a complete chaos race when Go Ask Alex decided to run off early and others made premature moves into the pace.

This horse is going to win one soon at a decent mutuel.

I feel the pain there.

I keyed Jody Slew figuring she would improve off of the 7 she ran on the grass first time as a 2yo, decent rest, good pp, perfect pace set up, and a softer field. Used her with Dynazaper (moved way too early like you said) and Queen Hazel on all tickets. She was in a great spot at the top of the stretch. I need to wait a week before going back and watching the replay. Painful

Tough game but I love it. Which is probably why I\'m capping the late P4 at H\'Wood today. Z in the 8th, but the rest is wide open.

I\'ll give the redboard a try with the caveat that I did not bet the race but did look over the past performances because a breeder/friend had one nominated.

First, it was a weak field for the level given that there were no horses weighted 122 or even 120 pounds.

Off anyones final figures the winner was unplayable but using generally accepted handicapping principles she was one of the ones.  Leaving her awesome connections and excellent workouts aside and taking it a race at a time;

Caminadora sprinted twice to start her career without success before going long on the turf in a decnt effort; then breaking her maiden in style with a looping rally from far back.  

At this point she has established an identity of being a deep turf closer with some talent.

Two year old allowances seldom fill so TAP was forced into a stakes and this More Than Ready filly closed from far back to get second money as the favorite.  Perhaps the soft going took its toll as she was put on the shelf for four months.

In her 1X return she was off poorly and bumped pretty good.  The race flipped and went in 49 and change for the first half, yet the final time was 1:36 and change.  This filly raced HER last half in some :46 and a tick, or as fast as horses can run.

A 1X at Keeneland was more than a bit logical for this one run deep closer and she raced Thursday April 8th.  ON weekdays the turf rail is often used and it was in place.  When the rail is up deep closers are ALWAYS at a disadvantage.  Caminadora was compromised then caught a wide trip to boot checking in third at some four to one.

Next was another 1x at Churchill, and again a Thursday race with the rail at 22feet the furthest out it can be.  She had agood post on the rail but was dismissed at nearly six to one made a sharp four wide middle move and predictable flattened out to be third again.

TAP knowing he would get the weekend hedge nominated to the Regret.  Fortunately there was a runoff entered and the pace was decent. The final time was only 1:52 and this filly had already exhibited the best last half of the field.

Sometimes, in fact often in turf racing it is not how fast you run.... but how you run fast!  BBB

Good analysis BBB. I looked at this horse at length only because of the connections and did notice a couple of \"excuses\", but could not get past the fact that there were at least 5 horses in the field with a decent pattern who looked to move forward with TG numbers in the 5-6 range. This horse had never run better than an 11. In the multi-race exotics I could not come up with any reason to use her in such a deep field. It\'s happened before and I\'m sure it\'ll happen again.
