Thanks very much
« on: April 10, 2011, 06:27:58 AM »
I am sure that for some these posts are getting to be a bit much so I apologize about that in advance but I just wanted to thank everyone for the amazing messages that were posted yesterday.

I don\'t even know what to say about yesterday, I could own horses for the next 50 years and not have a day like yesterday.  It was the kind of day that you dream about when you get involved in ownership but I would be lying if I said I ever expected it to happen.

I want to especially thank Jerry for everything he has taught me about the game in addition to the great horses that he has picked out for me.  In addition to the strong recommendation of an agent, it was the TG figures and pattern that gave me the confidence to purchase Lilacs and Lace even though her Beyers were slow.  Now, I never expected her to do this so soon but I sure don\'t plan on giving it back.

The final thing that made yesterday so awesome was that I qualified for the Vegas DRF NHC in the online qualifier.

As I said, yesterday was the kind of day that you live for in this business and having folks like all of you to share it with and get incredibly kind comments from makes it that much better for me!

Thanks again so much

Jim

No apology required!  Although I normally just lurk on this board and have never met anyone on it, I think this was a great story and loved being able to follow it and actually would love to hear more about the day, how you celebrated that night etc.

I assume I am one of the younger followers of this board (37) and it goes without saying that each generation seems to be less and less interested in racing.  Ownership stories like these are exactly what we need so people can see that following racing isn\'t just about cashing a 5 figure wager (although in this case I\'m assuming you did that as well!).

Thank you for sharing the story about Citrus kicking down the stall. I told that to my wife before the race so she too watched and enjoyed even though she isn\'t into racing. That sure must have been a long couple of minutes waiting on that photo. I really couldn\'t tell who won watching it on TVG. The camera angle didn\'t help. Allowance on the turf is my favorite, so it was a thing of beauty to watch, and doubly so because you know this wasn\'t really an allowance race. It could have been a top feature on any other given day. The yielding turf would have made me nervous as all get out too.

Best of luck the rest of the meet. It was a special day.

From everything I have observed here, it couldn\'t happen to a more deserving guy.

My sincere congratulations.

Score one for the good guys.

I know the endless kudos are embarassing you, but I have further comments.

1) Congrats on the DRF NHC spot.

2) The breeder/partners who retained an interest in the Ashland winner must be
feeling pretty giddy this AM.

3) I\'ve been watching Racing for 35+ years, not as closely now as then, but in all
that time I can not remember a stable of your size (less than 25 runners, no?)
have the kind of day you had yesterday.

I\'m done now James.

First of all, I want to say that a) as others have said, it couldn\'t happen to a nicer guy-- as I\'ve told Jim, he\'s too nice for this game. (I\'ve dealt with a whole lot that were not). b) He\'s paid his dues.

Evidence of what a nice guy he is-- he hasn\'t mentioned I told him he was overpaying for Lilacs.

Richie,

The best part for my partners on the filly is that they still own the dam and she\'s in foal to Flower Alley so they are due to have a full sib to a grade 1 winner any day now.

Just awesome for them.

Thanks again for all of the awesome comments man. Really appreciate it.

Jim prt of it too is we are all just trying to cash a few bets and at the same time root for people or things! This just makes it all more fun.

Wow Jim, i am just catching up literally on the board and although this is a little bit late I could only imagine the feeling. Great day indeed. I\'ve done the DRF things 2X and its a great time and hopefully you will have a fun experience. Mine was too business like as I was part of some team, but enjoy the day when it comes up, but the G1 Ashland win at KEE is just outstanding.

Sounds like you got it all covered at this moment in time.

Continued success!!!
