Champion mare Black Caviar has drawn the rails barrier for her attempt to win her 25th race in succession in Saturday\'’s Group I $1 million TJ Smith Stakes at Randwick.

There are 11 final acceptors for the feature sprint that includes six individual Group I winners – Black Caviar, Hay List, Bel Sprinter, Atomic Force, Sea Siren and Epaulette.

Black Caviar will be a long odds-on favourite to continue her phenomenal unbeaten winning streak.
 
If successful, she will also extend her Group I-winning streak to eight and take her career tally of major race wins to 15 – both Australian records.
 
The Australian Turf Club has made Black Caviar’s race the final event at 5.10pm (EST) on Derby Day.
 
Although the Royal Randwick track was still rated a heavy ( on Wednesday morning, improving weather in Sydney for the rest of this week should ensure the track condition improves and could even get back to a dead racing surface by Saturday.
 
Trainer Peter Moody said  that Black Caviar was a certain non-runner on heavy ground and a chance of coming out if the track was slow.
 
\"I\'d have to discuss that with the owners,\" Moody said, adding the BTC Cup in Brisbane next month remained an option.
 
Joseph Pride, who will pit his two best sprinters at Black Caviar, hopes the great mare runs.
 
Pride will run his gun wet tracker Rain Affair as well as the handy Title.
 
\"It won\'t just be a trot and canter like some of the races that Black Caviar has been in,\" Pride said.
 
\"If she wins she will certainly earn it, we don\'t race in lanes in Sydney, we will be going out there to beat her, try to take her out of her comfort zone.
 
\"Whether we can is another story, it isn\'t going to be easy but we will roll the dice.\"

SYDNEY: A half-brother to champion sprinter Black Caviar was sold for an Australian record Aus $5 million ($5.20 million) at the Easter yearling sale in Sydney on Tuesday.

The as yet unnamed colt, who shares Black Caviar’s mother, or dam, Helsinge was bought by Australian bloodstock firm BC3 Thoroughbreds for A$2 million more than the previous record.

BC3 Thoroughbreds purchased Black Caviar’s half-sister Belle Couture for A$2.6 million at the same sales last year, while a third Helsinge progeny, three-year-old colt All Too Hard, has already won three Group One races.

Black Caviar, who was bought by trainer Peter Moody for A$210,000 at the Melbourne yearling sales in 2007, is scheduled to go for her 25th win in as many races on Saturday at Randwick racecourse, next door to the venue of the sale. The six-year-old mare’s half-brother impressed Moody, who has said Black Caviar will not run in the T.J. Smith Stakes if the going is heavy.

“He’s like poetry in motion when you see him move,” he told ABC. “Every muscle moves at the right time with the next one. “When you see Black Caviar when she moves, you can see he’s inherited a lot of that athletic ability that she’s got.”

What is amazing is that she recovered from soft tissue injuries even though she weighs 1200 pounds. Peter Moody said the other day that she cam home under 22 seconds in her last 400 meters in her work. While it\'s great they keep racing her, I hope they don\'t go to the well once too often. She\'s done enough. With the race at 3:10AM, the trick is to go right to australainracing.com to see the replay and not check email when I get up tomorrow morning since there might be a TDN alert that gives away the result.

Yes, they DID keep that race for last.

This may be Nelly\'s toughest race ever - I\'m sure they are going to race-ride the holy hell out of her. They are going to try and rabbit her and break her. She can rate fine, sit one or two back, one off, but they will try and pocket her and keep her there if they can pull it off.

Gonna be a good race!

I\'m a longtime stalker of this board.  First post.  Black Caviar was her usual spectacular self.  Hay List tried to box her in entering turn - nice job by Nolan to prevent that.  She just exploded at head of stretch - Rain Affair didn\'t know what hit him.  That\'s 39 different group 1 winners she has now defeated. She makes really good horses look ordinary. The only 2 races anyone ever got close, she tore muscles yet still won.  What a horse!

What do you think they do with her - head to Ascot for 1 final race or stay in Australia for a few more?  I would prefer to see her in the All Aged against Pierro, All Too Hard, and More Joyous.  Those are probably the only other horses in Australia even remotely capable of challenging her from 5-7f.

That was a simply jaw-dropping race.  The 2nd and 3rd horse were coming off last race Grade 1 wins. Let alone the rest of the Grade 1 winners in the field. Unbelievable.

Nolan rode beautifully - they tried to box him in twice, and he just let her out a notch to keep one back and out in the middle.  They pulled up alongside - he clucked her up a length.  

This mare\'s acceleration is simply spectacular.

I doubt we\'ll see her at Breeder\'s Cup, downhill on cement would be her last race on that suspensory.  They were talking about possibly going back to Ascot, but Moody said she traveled badly, came home very, very tired (the race she tore her muscle).
