Does anyone find it strange that AP was shipped to CD rather than Belmont?  Now comes the news that AP\'s breeding rights have been sold.  If you owned AP; and really thought he would be the first triple crown winner in 37 years, wouldn\'t you want to wait on making any deal for breeding rights?

Baffert has prepared his previous triple crown candidates at CD.Does not want to air ship back to Cali then NY, horses can dehydrate, lose weight air shipping.NY a circus now compared to the quieter CD. AP wears ear plugs for a reason.

Re: Breeding Rights
There are incentives if he wins the Crown and other major races this year. Z and son are not fools.

Miff I was looking at a ship to CD versus ship to Belmont.  I never like to see these sales before big races, several of them prior to BC come to mind.

Maybe it\'s just me but I smell cologne trying to hide the smell of fish.

the stable went bankrupt a few years back. booking some profits seems logical.

nobody ever went broke taking profit.

This is exactly the time to sell his breeding rights, he\'s valued as if he had won the TC.

Unless you are Sheik Mo, you have to sell at the top

Doubtful he runs past 3. If he bombs in Belmont, may never run again.

What\'s Zayat\'s incentive not to run? His end can\'t be devalued, and he has purses and maybe incentives on the other side.

Insurance a ton. If he got hurt racing, a disaster. Doubtful Coolmore doesn\'t have a retirement clause if AP were to start getting beat a couple of times.

As you know, syndication agreements have lots of fine print.

Limited upside.
Vicious downside.

IMO If you can take some risk off the table at a fair price you take it.

Just look at all the losing horses in this game from an owners perspective.  You want to stay in the game as long as you can until you hit the big one, and the big one can make up for a lot of not good ones and if you do it right.

Perfect time to sell IMO. And could be perfect time to buy too.
