Nyquist fair odds

It\'s interesting  that probably no one on the planet with an \'opinion\' thought 2-1 was fair odds, and all the prerace talk had him 7/2, with even those odds as \'barely appealing\'.

  But somehow , there he was 2-1 like a rock. I guess the public scored out, huh.

I was in the ball room at the Borgata, standing room only, when Nyquist drew off in the stretch the place was going crazy??? Like jumping and cheering insanely.  I was confused??

 One guy in front of me dropped to his knees and raised his arms and head skyward, smiling like a hippie on a head full late second set, I turned to my girlfriend and said, that cat must have been live to the fav in the pick 5 or 6 (I didn\'t check the will pays prior)

...I couldn\'t help myself, I asked him if he had just made the IRS happy.. he sprang to his feet and proudly showed me a $10 13-11 exacta box while gearing up to give me a healthy high 5....

...dazed, I made a bee line for the bar all the while being pelted by the sound of 20 something girls voices echoing \"I told you he was the best one\" & \"That was awesome, how much did we win\"  I didn\'t see faces, just TAP\'s slicked back hipster haircut mocking me all the way to the whiskey bottle..

But yeah,the public, at least in NJ was all over the chalk, the line to the cage extended the length of the horse book after the 12th

I was there as well. Spot on. Woman next to me was screaming her lungs out for Nyquist while I was watching Exaggerator knowing he would not get there and watching $13,000 fly out the window.

Head starting really pounding after she told me that her 11 year old grandson picked Nyquist and he\'s a great handicapper. Told her that\'s fantastic --he\'s about to spend the next 60 years of his life getting humbled.

Only good thing about being in there was seeing Roy White---gentleman.

It\'s for this reason that the derby will always be the summum bet.  Sure there will be chalk years like the last two, but the betting public that shows for this means that the score of a lifetime will rear its head at some point.  Would his odds have been any different from the one hole?

Is the Borg your normal spot?  Only place opened in town anymore and big days are starting to become unbearable.

Big picture though I agree w another poster, while the new point system may make the derby more form full over all, it still presents opportunities rarely seen in any form of wagering.  Not every year will be chalk city, and as long as we have your \"friend\" loading up on her 11 year old grandsons picks, the rest of \"us\' will have our day.

 As painful as yesterday was, there\'s always today, tomorrow, next week, next year.  You we\'re keying Mor Spirit correct?  Any reason you\'re aware of that he didn\'t fire? (apologies if I\'m confusing you with someone else)

Great story...also like and agree with your followup...The chalk will be chalkier but the reversals will be glorious.

He figured in that race, though certainly not @ 2-1 on the sheet.

Looking forward to the number though it appears difficult to me. Turf before....track pelted with rain, drying some.......then drying more late. Tuff, tuff stuff.
