PJ and Blinkers
« on: April 28, 2017, 10:33:09 AM »
PJ worked with blinkers this AM. Very real chance he puts them on for the Derby.
Byk tweeted that Brown in the last 5\'years is 8/4-2-2 in graded stakes adding the blinkers, seems mostly on the turf.
Any thoughts on this?

Almost certain that since DRF began keeping the stat in the late \'80s, no horse has won the Derby when adding blinkers. No idea of sample size honestly, and there\'s a first time for everything, but on the surface looks like a negative move.

Two thoughts really:

Regardless of Chad Brown\'s blinkers on stats. My thought is Mr. Brown knows a repeat of the Blue Grass performance gets nothing. No real risk and blinkers could be a big help in traffic.

Second - Need to no more about Irap?

To my eye, PJ comes in,with arguably the strongest pattern, a 0- top with no regressions and a 37% chance of running a new top. Don\'t think they need to make a change.
