Del Mar surface no doubt. That being said once he stretched his legs he almost got there. I\'ve always felt the one way to beat this horse was too early pop him because he is such a long strider it takes him a while to get going. On a course like Dubai wide and sweeping he probably would never get beaten. Gun Runner is #1 now. The Classic now has considerable intrigue....

Or maybe the four straight races in the -5 range over a seven month period took a toll.

Yes could be. But he lost a lot ground yesterday and was beaten by a horse who himself had previously run a negative 5 last out. Doubt this one yesterday will be slow. Unless a -2 -3 Or-4 is slow 😊

Winner ran a 115 Beyer. He lost 50 feet of ground to him and lost by a deminishing neck. Yes he is off form hefe at Del Mar for one reason or another because these aren\'t the 120 type numbers he was running before...smh

Can\'t find the numbers for past years, but I believe this race makes 13 110+ Beyers in a dirt route so far this year.  That seems like a lot.  

I wonder if JB would consider putting out a running list like Beyer and Equibase of the top figs run in a given year (by route, sprint, surface, sex, etc.?)  I understand though that that might be giving away too much of the store.

On an unrelated matter, did anyone see the steroids rule for the BC has been moved to 6 months out rather than 60 days after the Masochistic disaster.  Let me quote a bloodhorse article so I don\'t state it improperly:  The rule mandates that horses treated with any anabolic steroid spend at least six months on a vet\'s list, therefore making them ineligible to race

Hmmm.....all very interesting.  

Does Bill Mott have any BC eligible horses this year?  I might be looking his way if he does......I can think of a few other trainers that I would also consider given the rules are different this year.  If you think this isn\'t part of solving the BC puzzle this year, you are behind the curve already.
