As I look ahead to the Breeders Cup Dirt Mile I see Practical Joke is listed in the pre-entries? Whatever pre entries are? A list of suspected entries I assume. I also see that same list now includes Cupid.
Certainly trainer Chad Brown is an expert at placing horses, BUT, doesn\'t entering the Cigar Mile make more sense?
Practical Joke looked great in winning last out. But the BC has several accomplished older horses which I prefer at reasonable prices. Many will salivate at the price PJ with fetch.
Mor Spirit thumped Sharp Azteca. Sharp Azteca beats most everyone else (in the East) Baffert apparently will use Cupid to back up his ace Mor Spirit, whose absence from competition creates doubt.
Then Accelerate is projected to be the favorite @ 7/2. Add in the fringe players, two turns and importance of post position draw and the need for Practical Joke to improve (imo) to contend. Tough spot.
The expected healthy double digit price, his last race and trainer popularity make him attractive, if one has tunnel vision. Sure there are plenty of reasons to visit the sun and surf of Del Mar in November other than a good chance to win a horse race. The owner\'s get a vote I\'m sure.
So have some Kool Aid and imagine something is wrong with Mor Spirit, Cupid has gone off form along with BB\'s entire stable, Sharp Azteca has been too good too long and the BC drug screening will compromise Navarro. Accerate will bounce and maybe PJ gets a couple pounds?
Just one schmo\'s opinion.
