Vekoma as a bomb?
« on: April 29, 2019, 09:57:14 AM »
Am curious as to Board’s view. He ran a 4 his first time out for Weaver who is average with FTS. The 4 is faster than any horse in field ran as a 2 year old. In his second start he ran a zero. No one else in field ran a zero as a 2 year old. He has paired 2s as a 3 year old. Does not sheet dogma strongly suggest he could, at least,in third off lay-off, pair up or exceed his 2 year old top on first Saturday in May? Need to include on tickets at odds of likely 20-1. I read what I read about his “action” and while he visually looked good winning the BG at Keeneland his final 3/8 was nothing to get excited about.Have not looked at dam side pedigree yet, But as a 3 year old developmental pattern, I need to take good look at him as a bomb. Comments?

His Dam was a sprinter for John  Sadler. She won the G1 Humana Distaff at CD on a Derby undercard a few years ago.

I handicap the Derby as if it was a two turn race at a mile. Why complicate it when none of us know who is getting the mile and a quarter anyway.

So of course I think he\'s got a huge shot to be in the mix at the end.

Good Luck,

Hi Richard,

I hope all is well.

I have to take issue with his “visually looked good” it was a horrific BG field.  All alone in the lane he looked like a green baby in his first start. I crossed him off my list before he hit the finish line.

Draw dependent I hope he and a couple others press the Servis crooked kneed, 16k, junkie to insure a lively pace.....

MJ I like Max Security as much as you do!

Not unexpected considering it was only his second start of the year. Heard similar regarding Good Magic last year.

Good Luck,

To me, the argument against is that he has now had about 4 months and 2 tries at matching/improving his 2yo top and has failed to do so.

Maybe interesting, he\'s presently 14/1 in England, but 30/1 at the Hilton (fine, \"Westgate\" - yuck).
