I googled Pimlico/Preakness this morning trying to find it if a jock had been named on the Ness horse in the 12th.....

These are the first 2 items that popped up!

Can’t get the Washington Post article without a subscription. If someone has it, feel free to post it.

I bet that filly and was really confused when the handsome gray gal just never got into the race came away thinking I\'d never bet Saint Javier again.

What a shame but I really don\'t think it warrants front page attention any more than mass murderers and so many other things.

Frank:

I am fairly certain if the writer of The Times article was not able to blame
Donald Trump for the equine fatalities, said writer will be called on the carpet
Monday morning.

Some might say that Racing is in a decline. The Times is in a free fall.

well, there\'s also a nice piece by Drape in the Times sports section on Kelly Rubley.

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/05/17/sports/preakness-stakes.html

I\'m more appalled by the NPR weekly sports segment I just listened to, which couldn\'t even pretend to show interest in the race and just dumped on any fans of the sport as worthless degenerates.

Given your mention of Donald Trump, two words from his sidekick Kellyanne Conway come to mind regarding the Times in decline:  Alternative fact.

I think I\'ll stand with Ted Koppel on this.  The NY Times and the Wash. Post, both of which used to be somewhat left-of-center, have now abandoned all semblance of objectivity.

I’m blaming this entire political frolic and detour on a big racing day on Frankie Rainbow for posting this article from “The Grey Lady”

For the rest of you, I will offer a response which many will likely find barely credible sometime before Belmont Day.

Left and right are ideological positions. NONE of the issues being fought about today are ideological, that\'s a con being promoted to get people worked up, and to root for a team. The issues are factual (true/false) and ethical (right/wrong).

We are not on the teams. I\'m a Met fan. I\'m not a Met. Partisanship and ideology are entirely different things.

String ends here.
