How CDI is killing horse racing in the service of lining shareholders’ pockets with casino gold. Solid reporting by an excellent writer.

Puck those greedy pricks, if it wasn\'t for the Derby & Oaks they couldn\'t care less about horse racing.

As a soulless hard nosed business person I understand what they are doing.  As a horseman/ horseplayer I wish they would bundle the tracks with TwinSpires/Brisnet and either spin them off to shareholders or find a buyer that actually wants to be in the racetrack business.

Will U.S. tracks switch from parimutuel to fixed-odds betting?

Sport of Kings in LV tried the fixed odds model in the 90\'s and got crushed. Closed within a year of being opened. Would love to see fixed odds & matchups offered with fair hold percentages. Don\'t think you\'ll ever see it in US.

I always thought a fair model would be to tie the takeout to # of entries. Impossible to beat this game playing into 25% takeouts without huge rebates.
