Phipps Stable

Bravo to the Phipps.  They see the bigger picture here.  Fantastic and hope others follow their lead.  I\'d like to see the Old Guard (few left) continue to take these type of stands.

Actually Phipps Stable has already talked to Shug and won’t run in any race at Pim this weekend where we don’t feel like we are running on a level playing field.

That makes things interesting. In the first race Saturday (Sir Barton) Shug has Romp who is moving up in class and looked OK in his last at Big A; there is also a Betametha Bob entry (Hozier) in that race. ( Can not recall but Romp may be owned by Stuart Janney and not Phipps.)

I don\'t think he makes it to the Belmont, but could you imagine? OMG.

Who\'s the Belmont horse?

Maybe we should just give racing back to the aristocrats for whom it is just a sport like it is in England. The trouble with the rest of us is we actually need the money, hence all the complications, deceptions, cheating, etc.. Yes, bravo to the Phipps stable. Might as well take gambling off the table, too, make these meets like the Far Hills jumping races where racing is a pleasant afternoon out with the family or business partners, black labs and standard poodles by our sides. Tailgate and try new recipes and sample wines. Sign me up for that. It\'s the dirty money that soiled this affair. The Phipps\' interests are certainly above all that. Hey they only pay 15%-20% tax on capital gains for all that old money wealth, so why would they ever gamble in the first place??? We suckers pay 25-30% for bustin our stones at hard work.

I don’t think Baffert is cheating because he needs the money. He’s doing it for two reasons. It works and he can.

Ever see his early life and story--once you come from those roots, you never lose that fight, even if he mingles with the super wealthy today. And they all do it by the way. Maybe not Shug lol. This particular horse I\'m hearing from some big trainers I\'ve spoken with has some serious physical issues, and there probably is more to the inflammation story than we are being told. He will def. be disqualified from the derby as well provided the split sample tests over the limit. This will take months though as there will be appeals and what not.

IMHO, that\'s almost as challenging as running against Baffert.

The horse went for 1,000 dollars.  Medina certainly has ouchies at that price.

Agree that upon pure logic if the split sample comes back dirty Medina is DQ\'d. He has to be, being this is Bobby\'s second Medication violation upon consecutive Derby weekends. Should we anticipate a significant penalty? I believe that Should be in the cards. Whether it is or not will depend. Not on Bobby\'s ridiculous defense statements, it will depend upon how serious Kentucky is upon enforcing its rules for medication violations. The barn can\'t stay clean.

The Phipps Stable took a strong position on Bobby\'s flagrant medication violations and Spendthrift Farm is re-evaluating its relationship with \"I know nothing Baffert\".

You have always appeared close to the Backside. It may be its the participants that will determine this outcome.
